Telemedicine can be simply defined as the application of modern communications technology to medicine and surgery.

At the MASTER Unit & Mersey School of Endoscopy we use this technology to:

• Transmit live surgical and endoscopy procedures to the Royal College of Surgeons as part of their training programmes.
• Transmit live surgical and endoscopy procedures to other centres nationally and worldwide.
• Transmit and receive live surgical and endoscopy procedures for our own training programmes.
• We can also provide a telemedicine / video conferencing facility for outside organisations.
